From Inwood:

I heard a member of the tea party on the radio saying it is not the government's job to care for or look after people in need, such as the hurricane victims; that they are responsible for their own safety and well-being. I guess the tea party is the devil's answer to the Christian church.

From Winchester, Va.:

The comment made about me not talking to my parents except by text has missed the point completely. Society no longer requires me to talk or be polite to anyone, and I say, "Hurrah!" The only way I will lend a hand to one in need is if I put my cellphone down or whichever other device, and that will never happen. I don't need friends when I have Facebook!

From Hedgesville:

To Glenwood Forest: Parents should not be forced to drive their children to school - that's why we have public school buses. Let your voices be heard, write letters to the governor, state superintendent, Congress, etc. Someone will have to listen and do something. We have to have our children in seat belts when in personal vehicles, yet buses don't, and then they have them on each other's laps. That is a no-no!

From Huntfield:

Can someone please explain just how killing deer or exhuming graves benefits our city? And where are the businesses that City Council members Clark and Reinhart promised?

From Jefferson County:

President Harry Truman once said, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen." This appears to be sound advice for the new Charles Town City Council members when they try to explain their empty campaign promises to their constituents.

Reports. Critics of MTC’s plans, including East Bay legislator Mark DeSaulnier, have contended that the agency’s proposal amounts to real estate speculation, because the warehouse MTC wants to buy is much larger than the agency needs. MTC hopes to rent out the extra space, and the agency turned down a proposal to move into a new building in downtown Oakland because it lacked extra space for MTC rent to other entities.

3. An influential consumer watchdog group announced a ballot measure campaign that would rollback health insurance costs and require the state to offer a public health insurance option for consumers , the Chron reports. The proposal by Consumer Watchdog, which was responsible for Prop 103, the state’s historic auto-insurance consumer protection law, also would allow state regulators to reject proposed health insurance premium hikes.
