Dillard's to lay off 66 in St. Louis
Is merging its St. Louis merchandising division with another in Little Rock, Ark., affecting 66 employees.The department store told employees of the change Friday and offered relocation options throughout the company, said Julie Bull , director of investor relations.
Dillard’s local merchandising division leases space at Crestwood Court and is expected to close by Oct. 23, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state.
The company’s merchandising divisions buy merchandise regionally based on climates, tastes and cultures, and demographics of shoppers, Bull said.
Dillard’s other merchandising divisions are located in Tampa, Fort Worth and Phoenix.

Dillard’s has confirmed media reports that it is merging its merchandising division in St Louis with another in Little Rock, Arkansas, where the company is based.
The move, described as a “business decision,” will affect more than 60 employees. It will leave Dillard’s with four regional merchandise divisions in Phoenix, Tampa, Fort Worth, and Arkansas.
Earlier this month the retailer said it had nearly tripled its second quarter net profit to US$17.6m, thanks in part to a 5% increase in net retail sales. Meanwhile, comparable store sales were up 6% in the three months to 30 July.
