Red Green brings his unique humour to city

CORNWALL - Red Green brings his brand of duct tape and humor in North America during a tour online, and it will touch the ground in Cornwall in October.

This is the first series of standup comedy for Steve Smith, star of the Red Green Show which was very popular on both sides of the border.

"It's 90 minutes, but some of it seems more," he quips in a telephone interview with the Standard-Freeholder, shortly before it crossed the border to the Canadian leg the trip. "It's obviously all in the character Red Green, talks about life lodge and stuff behind the scenes."

It promises to bring some tips of his classic handyman at the hearing, as well as advice to teenagers on the piercings and the men get along with their wives.

"It is designed to make people laugh," he said.

After 15 years of a successful TV show, there is little doubt that it can initiate laughter. He says it's a gift that he has had since he was a child.

"I could always make people laugh," he said. "As soon as I could talk I could make people laugh."

But he did not know he could make a living of it, but he spent a year and a half of engineering studies at the University of Waterloo.He says he picked up skills in machining, welding and all the rest.

"I knew enough to be dangerous," he said. "I had no idea that I would be drawing on that later."

Smith said he had a wide variety of jobs, from teaching to delivering the mail, before breaking into show business.

"The common thread that I kept avoiding was that I had this ability to make people laugh," he said. "I did not think one second I could make a living at it."

Now he knows differently. His foray into comedy began with a television show called Smith & Smith, he and his wife.He has worked on several other productions before his most popular and personal favorite draft, the Red Green Show, hit the airways.

"(He was) as a boy of seven years," he said. "I was just having fun. It was like being paid to be on summer vacation.

The solution to all problems – Handyman

It is a life unfair and an unjust world. It really is. And it is not only a cynic who indicate. It is actually very hard work and that kind of behavior of people in the direction of a good handyman or klusjesman mean a few things.
