FOX5 Vegas - KVVUFree bus rides offered to Vegas New Year's celebrations

Transit officials in the Las Vegas Valley is encouraging residents to take public transportation for the New Year's celebrations.

Regional Transportation Commission is offering free transit rides for beginning at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 9 a.m. New Year's Day.

The free rides would apply to all transit routes throughout the valley, including the Strip & Downtown Express, Centennial Express, Westcliff Airport Express and the new Boulder Highway Express and Henderson & Downtown Express services, according to officials.

The RTC also recommended celebrants to park-and-ride for New Year's.

Riders will be taken from park-and-ride lots to the Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas where riders can then transfer to a revised Deuce on the Strip & Downtown Express routes, RTC said.

RTC listed the following places as park-and-ride lots.

Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride - located at 7313 Grand Montecito Parkway in the northwest part of the valley, near the US 95 and Durango Drive interchange has 400 parking spaces and is served by the Centennial Express. Westcliff Transit Center and Park & Ride - located at Durango Drive and Summerlin Parkway, has 140 parking spaces and is serviced by the Westcliff Airport Express. South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT) - located at 6675 S. Gilespie St. at the corner of Sunset Road and Gilespie Street, has 250 parking spaces and is serviced by multiple RTC transit routes. Eldorado Casino, 140 Water Street, Henderson, Nev., has 29 spaces and is serviced by the Henderson & Downtown Express. Eastside Cannery Casino, 5255 Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nev., has 14 spaces and is serviced by the Boulder Highway Express. College of Southern Nevada, Henderson Campus, 700 College Drive, Henderson, Nev., has four spaces and is serviced by the Henderson & Downtown Express. Suncoast Hotel and Casino, 9090 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, Nev.
