Blazers staff comes to county to work with kids
Nearly 100 Douglas County children showed up to train with the pros at the Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley.
Members of the Blazer's training team took the kids through different agility drills, and kept them moving and active all morning long.
"They have them running in lines, they have them running around cones and the kids know where to go," said Dean Jones, the Sports and Recreation Director at the club. "That's what's neat: the kids are following directions and they're learning. They're learning drills and things really fast, quick. They're responsive. They're having a blast, you know, they love it."
A few of the Blazer Dancers were also at the event, and were busy signing autographs and talking to young girls about what it takes to be on the squad.
This is the 10th year the Boys and Girls Club has hosted the camp.
Jones says that it not only teaches the participants a few new moves, but it also provides the kids with a memory that will last them a lifetime.
The clinic is sponsored by the Cow Creek Tribe, which made it free for all of the kids.
