Life's a Beach in Cyprus with Jet2.com

(PRWEB) August 25, 2011

The popular island is currently enjoying decade-high tourist figures this July as Jet2.com announce their flights to Cyprus are part of their Summer Bargains offer

The gorgeous Mediterranean island of Cyprus is experiencing something of a boom at the moment. Recent tourism figures show an increase on last year’s visitors between January and July, but more impressively Northern Cyprus’ Tourism Minister has stated arrivals for the region have broken all records.

With Jet2.com’s Summer Bargains still on sale from £21.99, what better time to experience this beautiful island.

Top Beaches to Look Forward to

This news might leave you worried about the state of the island’s beaches following such an up-turn in tourists, but help has been on hand. Thanks to groups of young volunteers taking part in the summer-long “Clean Up The Med” campaign many beaches are currently revelling in a new lease of life, particularly those of Paphos and Larnaca.

What’s more, Cyprus recently came top in popular travel website Trip Advisor’s run-down of the Top Ten European Beach Destinations of 2011, with Ayia Napa scoring the Number One slot and the south-eastern beach of Protaras coming third. Their location and amenities helped to secure the positions, not to mention the 300 plus days of sunshine a year that Cyprus is said to be blessed with.

As you’d imagine for such an idyllic island destination, when it comes to choosing the right beach it’s more a case of what you’re looking for rather than what’s on offer. If you’re the sporty type looking to get in some water skiing or kite surfing you’ll find the windier beaches at the south-western corner of the island, whilst those seeking solitude might find the Akamas peninsula in the north-west to their liking. But whatever your preference you can be sure of glorious sunshine and crystal clear waters.

Why Cyprus for Study Abroad? – Great literature is simply language ...

By Dr. Sandi Smith, Director of Institutional Relations, Global Learning semesters in January 2009.

The number of American students studying abroad seems to be increasing significantly on an annual basis. Although there is not enough research to understand why ... anecdotal evidence suggests that this generation of "millennial" students realize the need first to understand others who are different from themselves to succeed in business, politics and general world welfare.

IIE Open Doors 2008 report suggests that in 2006-2007 study abroad by U.S.students increased by 8% over the previous year and an increase of almost 150% from 1996-1997 (source: http://opendoors.iienetwork.org/?p=131592). IIE Open Doors Report was the main source of data for registration of international education in the United States for several decades. However, it is not clear that the significant increase in study abroad participation data is not simply a result of better support the efforts of data collection and reporting in the last decade.

Open Doors 2008 report also suggests that the United StatesStudents participate in programs much more different places, seeing the increase in reports of the study abroad destinations. "The number of American students in China, Argentina, South Africa, Ecuador and India have each increased by more than 20 percent over the previous year." (Source: http://opendoors . iienetwork.org /? p = 131592).

However, the Open Doors Report 2008 indicates an insignificant participation in Cyprus. Why an American college student exploring Cyprus as a destination for relevant and meaningful to study abroad?

So, if participation in study abroad is increasing, and students are increasingly seeking "non-traditional" areas, why do some American students studying abroad in Cyprus? Unofficial reports suggest that before 2005, less than five (5) U.S. students studied abroad in Cyprus every year.
