Outlook: Until somebody else proves differently, the Wolves remain the team to beat, even though you could probably throw a blanket over the top four teams. The defense also is rebuilding but Washington and Stubbs are proven game-changers in a defense that specializes in creating turnovers. Domingue is a valuable contributor as both the punter and place kicker. Outlook: After 35 years in the profession Hank Tierney thought his time as a head coach was over. But when former assistant Mike Biamonte moved to an administrative position, the former Shaw and West Jefferson coach was back in charge. He comes into a good situation – 15 starters back from a team that went 8-3 and is already familiar with Tierney’s flex-bone attack. The defense looks equally solid. Only the lingering memories of a 48-2 loss to St. Paul’s last years keeps Ponchy from being picked to win the league. Outlook: This could be the year Covington returns to the top of the district and becomes a factor in the playoffs. Peters, who has committed to Tennessee, leads a large, experienced defense. The offense features good size up front and a second-year starter at quarterback in McDowell. The district opener at St. Paul’s should be a doozy.  Outlook: With the starting quarterback, receivers and top running back returning, the Skippers should have no problem putting points on the board. The defense isn’t as experienced and is undergoing a change in philosophy, but has size plus a returning All-District safety in Broussard. Mandeville has had too many close losses in the past couple of years. This could be the year the ball bounces the Skippers’ way.
