With the imminent arrival of Dream Theater’s first album made without him, Mike Portnoy declared that he felt like a cuckolded lover. As green flames of jealously engulfed him he cried on the shoulder of New York DJ Eddie Trunk, bemoaning his loss

“Nobody wants to see their ex-wife of 25 years with a new husband moving into the house that you built for 25 years. It’s a painful thing for me to hear and see,” he whined, as the truth eventually smacked him hard between the eyes that his old chums were now over his departure and happily shacked up with their new love (drummer) Mike Mangini

He was also apparently baffled that the world would continue to rotate once he had announced his exit

“A Dream Theater without me was never in the plan; I never expected that,”

Well what the hell DID you expect Mike? John Petrucci to join a religious sect in the Himalayas? James LaBrie to pack in the music business and become an insurance salesman? M Shadows hasn’t yet turned up flipping burgers at MacDonald’s yet either.

Aussie rock fans down under were dismayed when promoters of the Soundwave Revolution touring festival, cancelled just a month before the five shows were planned.

Due to feature the first performances by the latest version of Van Halen fronted by original front-man Dave Lee Roth, promoter AJ Maddah was incensed when news of the cancellation was leaked via Twitter by Steel Panther drummer Stix Zadinia.

He hastily arranged an interview on Australian radio station Nova 969 where he promptly blamed the festival’s demise on an un-named ‘co-headliner’ who had apparently dithered so much that the shows had to be pulled.
