Teachers, Aides, Coaches Appointed in Peekskill
The Peekskill Board of Education appointed dozens of teachers, tutors, aides, student teachers, substitutes and coaches Tuesday night as the district gears up for the opening of schools next week.
A dozen of the new faculty members were on hand for the approval vote and a round of applause at the Administration Center. “Congratulations and welcome,” board President Joseph Urbanowicz said, “especially the Peekskill High School graduates who have returned to give back to their community.”
The following teachers were appointed: Crystal R.Hernandez, music, Angela Byrne, English, David Mueller, social studies, Odalis Castillo, Spanish, Jacqueline Ojeda, elementary, in two languages, the approval of the replacement of the absence; Diane Sabater-Pacheco, elementary, leave replacement of absence Robstad Margaret, elementary, leave of absence replacement, Andrea McKinley Elementary in two languages, the approval of replacement of absence Jewell Van Ord, elementary, in two languages, the leave of absence replacement; Rachele Rice Elementary, said the eligibility list favorite, George Goess, English, leave of absence replacement.
Kelly LeFevre was recalled from the Preferred Eligibility List and appointed a school psychologist. Noah Gallagher was appointed a teacher assistant. Jennifer Cannella and Elizabeth Talbert were appointed teacher aides.
The following students home tutors were appointed for the 2011-12 school year: Lisa Aspinall, Kay Barthelmes, Raymond Berry, Dorothy Bertram, Dorothy Caruolo, Ruth Cooley, Toni Day, Lynda Delmonoco, Barbara Devir, Noah Gallagher, Jennifer Garabedian Michelle Horne, Todd Newby, Enid Nieves-Lopez, Michelle Obenauer, Michelle Riecke, Amy Rosselli, Sue Singer, Janice Stewart, Joseph Sullivan, Michael Telesco, Helen Terris, Josephine Williams, Matilda Zeoli.
The following student teachers were appointed for the fall semester: Carla Cairedo, Andrew Hernon, Susan Jones and Joseph Perri, Peekskill High School; Joseph Bruno, Robert Jackman, Thomas Robertine, Amanda Smith and Troy Yearwood, Peekskill Middle School; Lauren Brios, Kelly Kondras, Catherine McPartlan, Tammy Penton and Robert Seckler, Hillcrest Elementary School; Nicole Fortunato, Ellen Haspel and Jennifer Masterson, Woodside Elementary School; Alessandra Ainbinder, Emily Geider, Alexander Greengurg, Tammy Penton, Shannon Pierce, Brett Rosenbaum and Tina Tice, Oakside Elementary School.

The program for the ninth biennial interdisciplinary conference ‘Toward a Science of Consciousness 2010’ is complete. Held in even-numbered years since 1994, the Tucson conferences are the major world gatherings on a broad spectrum of approaches to the fundamental question of how the brain produces conscious experience, a question which addresses who we are, the nature of reality and our place in the universe. An estimated 700 scientists, philosophers, psychologists, experientialists, artists and others from 43 countries on 6 continents will participate in 400 presentations included in 17 Pre-Conference Workshops, 12 Plenary or Keynote sessions, 21 Concurrent Talk sessions, 2 Poster Sessions, 3 Art-Tech interactive sessions and special evening performances. Abstracts for all presentations will be posted at www.consciousness.arizona.edu Highlights of the 2010 Plenary Program will include Keynote speaker Antonio Damasio, the esteemed neurologist and best-selling author on how the Self arises from layers of processes from brainstem to cortex. Other Keynotes include psychiatrist/neuroscientist Karl Deisseroth on new technologies revealing brain circuits of the conscious mind, and Robert J.
