From Cardinal Seán's blog
We were all very saddened by the news that Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, passed away Wednesday night at Johns Hopkins University Hospital from complications following lung surgery. We were very shocked by the news, particularly given the fact that he was with us just a matter of weeks ago in Boston for the fundraising event of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary, at which he was honored.
At that moment, he was full of life, health and enthusiasm and gave a very beautiful and moving speech. No one at that time ever would have suspected that his life's journey was approaching such a sudden end.
We commend him to God's merciful love and providence and thank the Lord for the gift that his life has been to his family, his Church, and to all the people he has served as a priest and bishop.
Visiting with the Catholic Daughters
Last Wednesday (July 20) I met the leadership team of the State Court of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
We had a nice talk and State Regent Connie Pagan updated me on a number of initiatives the Daughters are undertaking.
Every year the Daughters make a substantial contribution for the pro-life activities of the archdiocese through their Pennies for the Unborn program. This year they were able to double last year's amount, presenting me with a check for $20,000.
Marianne Luthin, the director of our Pro-life Office, and Father Kevin O'Leary, who is their state chaplain, were also present there. We were able to thank the women for this very significant gift and assure them that it will be put to very good use, to support the pro-life ministry of the archdiocese.
Farewell to Bishop Reilly
On Sunday (July 24), I went to a state gathering of the Knights of Columbus. They had a banquet to honor Bishop Dan Reilly, who is retiring as their state chaplain. He is the Bishop Emeritus of Worcester and has been in the Knights for about 50 years.

On seeing the condom, she blithely commented something about the thing as an agent of death while God was pro-life and for procreation. She believed, though, that there was no need for CCP officials to resign or the artist to be penalized.

It has frustrated him, as well as the Mets, who are wondering exactly what they can expect from the sixth-year pro. "My mentality when I do my job is I like to do it well," Pagan said. "I like to go out there and compete and do my best all the time.
Having made the proper sacrifices to the requisite pagan gods and desecrated the appropriate number of virgins, Christian Slater has been granted passage to the televisual realm once more. Fox is bringing back Breaking In for the second time,

Don't worry, he's not a pagan. He just wanted to fit in with his teammates. In truth, Baron's tale is not especially representative of Turkey -- former UCLA star Josh Shipp later says that he was pelted with batteries after a game-winning shot,
Why Would a Pagan be Pro-Life? - tribe.net
Chances are good this site surprised you in some way; there aren't many pro-life pagan websites out there. In fact, I typed "pagan AND pro-life" into a search engine recently and found two. One of them was a broken link. So I think it's fair to say, you probably haven't seen all that many websites like this one. I hope it was a pleasant sort of surprise, at finding others who think like you do - if so, please, please see the link about submitting your own writing! A pagan is going to have a pretty hard time finding a candidate who supports genuine religious freedom and equality and also opposes abortion; for the most part, pro-life politicians identify strongly with the so-called 'religious right'. A pagan who sees nature as sacred and considers preserving the environment a top priority may have difficulty finding someone to vote for who wants to save both wetlands and unborn babies. Generally speaking, pro-life politicians are fiscal conservatives, and fiscal conservatives tend not to be too big on anything that might inhibit businesses - like environmental standards. Good luck to you finding a pro-lifer to elect who considers human sexuality a natural and sacred thing, and supports comprehensive sex ed, while opposing abortion. And don't hold your breath waiting for a member of our electorate to support gay rights and prenatal rights simultaneously. The groups with political clout who are supportive of paganism and pagan causes - feminists who love the idea of goddess worship, environmentalists, and civil rights groups - tend to be supportive of abortion rights. Abortion is part and parcel of the progressive ideology today; those who oppose abortion are deemed de facto enemies, whether they're also feminist or ecologically minded or supportive of civil rights or not. Anyone who won't jump on the pro-choice bandwagon is automatically tossed aside as a presumed Bible-thumper, or at the very least, an anti-woman control freak.
